MEDICINAL MUSHROOMS CAN IMPROVE PHYSICAL, SPIRITUAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING

Our intention with this page is to indicate that scientific research and thousands of years of traditional use have identified mushrooms having medicinal properties and applications in specific conditions for humans and animals. Disclaimer: This information is for reference, suggesting resources, and further research only. It is not intended as medical advice or as treatment for diseases or conditions. Consult an herbal, alternative medicine, or medical professional or practitioner for advice in using medicinal mushrooms. Medicinal mushrooms are available as liquid concentrates, dried in capsules, in combination formulas, and as food. Concentrated extracts are available to medical and veterinary professionals for intravenous administration.

The list of medicinal mushrooms is not complete. Please see Robert Rogers’ The Fungal Pharmacy for an extensive review of research in therapeutic mushrooms.

Medicinal mushrooms - Health from nature

Mushrooms have been used in Asia for thousands of years to relieve and cure many diseases. Meanwhile scientific studies demonstrate: medicinal mushrooms stabilize the human and animal immune system, inhibit tumors and have a cell renewal effect. In addition, they contain a variety of nutritionally important substances. Therefore, healing with mushrooms (mycotherapy) - as a classical naturopathy – is becoming more and more popular. Medicinal mushrooms are administered individually depending on which organ system has been particularly weakened. Its importance is growing e.g. in immunotherapy for cancer, allergies and inflammatory processes in the gastrointestinal tract (gastritis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis), and on the skin. Metabolic syndrome (prediabetes) as a combination of obesity, diabetes, gout, dyslipidemia and hypertension can be positively influenced by the intake of medicinally active fungi. Since cardiovascular diseases as a result of metabolic syndrome are common, this is a significant field of application. Of the most effective medicinal mushrooms, shiitake is widespread and now very well known in Europe in supermarkets as a tasty edible mushroom.
