MYKMushrooms have been used in Asia for thousands of years to relieve and cure many diseases. Meanwhile scientific studies demonstrate: medicinal mushrooms stabilize the human and animal immune system, inhibit tumors and have a cell renewal effect. In addition, they contain a variety of nutritionally important substances. Therefore, healing with mushrooms (mycotherapy) - as a classical naturopathy – is becoming more and more popular. Medicinal mushrooms are administered individually depending on which organ system has been particularly weakened. Its importance is growing e.g. in immunotherapy for cancer, allergies and inflammatory processes in the gastrointestinal tract (gastritis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis), and on the skin. Metabolic syndrome (prediabetes) as a combination of obesity, diabetes, gout, dyslipidemia and hypertension can be positively influenced by the intake of medicinally active fungi. Since cardiovascular diseases as a result of metabolic syndrome are common, this is a significant field of application. Of the most effective medicinal mushrooms, shiitake is widespread and now very well known in Europe in supermarkets as a tasty edible mushroom.
